Day 48

Last night I decided to have two glasses of red wine with my wife for the purpose of tested (wink). It would have been equivalent to one full glass.

This morning I was curious to see what my acetone levels would be. The reading was still green but 9 flashes. Higher reading than yesterday. So alcohol can effect acetone readings. Then I started to think can high acetone levels from ketogenic diets effect a breathalyzer.. It’s actually a interesting question.

This morning I decided no way was I having the complementary breakfast and we decided to make our own. We had also pre made some waffles to bring along.

Breakfast was bacon, fried cherry tomatoes, olives and dairy free waffles. Not one rubbery egg in sight

I didn’t have a bullet coffee. This was straight decaf ..

Now that’s a complementary breakfast.

We’ve decided to go for our trek to a deserted beach. It’s only about 2 kilometers but it’s up hill and the terrain is rugged. It takes about 10 -15 minutes each way. This year was definitely easier even with a 5 kg back pack. The view was stunning. I’ll add photos at the end.

I haven’t done this for a while but I have a day in the life of Greg Whynutt story for you.

Remember when you were a kid and you saw a cartoon with a person and they had an engel on one side and a devil on the other whispering to do or not to do something? Well, that happened to me today.

On the way back along the track the hills have cactus cascading down the side and Kauri spotted a cactus fruit. It was red, plump and looked so juicy ripe for the picking.

This is the culprit

The good part of me is like don’t touch it you know you’re going to regret it and the bad side is like go on, you know you want to, go ahead try it. Well, I gave into temptation. This was so juicy, plump and delicious … The downside I have tiny thistles in my fingers and mouth. So I learned the hard wa. Next time…

let Kauri do it ..lol…

It really was a lovely walk. We have never seen the beach at high tide. Really glad we did it today .We get back at around 12:30 and have a quick swim in the pool before lunch. Love the out door shower.

We use the roast chicken, olives, cherry tomatoes, olive oil, salt and pepper.

I forgot to mention Grandma, true to form. Yesterday we were just pulling up to have lunch the phone rings. She was bored (mind you, she can’t hear.) Today after lunch grandma rings wants to know what time we will be back .. (like I’ve said before doesn’t give us the time of day when we are home.)  Just a serial pest .

Kauri’s made fat bombs and chia pudding. We decided to go for another dip in the pool the waters cool but refreshing.

Three days has gone fast .

So our trek in photos.

A few ladders to climb up and down

Upwards and onwards

And the decent down I keep expecting something to jump out at us

Real Indiana jones stuff.

And to be able to do it with my best friend rocks.. literally rocks everywhere.

Dinner tonight was roast chicken, cauliflower, asparagus wrapped in bacon . Really tasty . If I wasn’t doing dairy free I would have melted cheese over the cauliflower and added chopped bacon .

It has been  a great 3 days .Tomorrow morning we head back to normality if yo can call it that .
